India Achieves 6.5 Million Rooftop Solar Installations in 104 Days, Says Minister Joshi India has achieved over 6.5 million rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in just 104 days, as announced by Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi. This milestone was highlighted during the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 in New Delhi, where Joshi noted that installations are occurring at a rate of more than 100,000 every six days. He emphasized that this rapid growth reflects increasing public engagement in the country's shift towards renewable energy, with India's non-fossil installed capacity now at 310 gigawatts. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also spoke about the enthusiasm generated by subsidies under the scheme, mentioning a target of installing rooftop solar systems in 200,000 homes by March next year.
