Maharashtra dam water storage drops to 65.79 percent Water storage in dams across Maharashtra has decreased to 65.79 percent of their total capacity, according to a report from the State Water Resources Department dated November 8, 2026. This marks a significant drop from 90.67 percent on the same date last year, reflecting a decline of nearly 25 percentage points. Among the divisions, Konkan has the highest storage at 83.34 percent, while Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has the lowest at 38.39 percent. The data indicates that water levels in major, medium, and minor irrigation projects are all lower compared to the previous year, raising concerns about the state's water resources.
